In addition to providing home buyers with the best value for their new home, seek we also aim to serve the communities in which we work. One of the ways we’ve accomplished this in 2014 is by being a Diamond level sponsor for HomeAid Atlanta, the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta Homes Builders Association (GAHBA). Our company also plans to continue serving these communities in 2015 by continuing our Diamond level sponsorship throughout next year.
Founded in 2001, HomeAid Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that addresses the critical need for transitional housing in metro Atlanta that serves the temporarily homeless. The organization aims to build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. As a local chapter of HomeAid America, a leading national provider of transitional housing for the temporary homeless, HomeAid Atlanta acts as the housing developer and liaisons between homeless service providers, builders, trade partners and community volunteers.
By partnering with local homeless service agencies, HomeAid Atlanta works to expand their capacity to serve the homeless by building and renovating multi-unit transitional housing facilities. To date, HomeAid Atlanta has completed 21 build projects that serve the temporarily homeless, including victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, abused and abandoned children, and homeless families.
As a Diamond level sponsor, the top level of sponsorship available, the Smith Douglas Homes team was able to provide a significant financial contribution to help HomeAid Atlanta reach its goals for 2014. Projects that took place this year included a record-breaking Essentials for Young Lives Drive; multiple HomeAid Care Days, including one at the Covenant House of Georgia and one with the NFL Former Players Association; being chosen as the Leadership DeKalb Community Service Project; assembling and donating 500 CareKits to local homeless organizations; and much more.
