Position Summary:

This position is responsible for producing cost estimates insuring the Purchase Orders generated are correct for both our Trade Partners and Superintendents in the field.


Essential Functions:  Core duties or tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job.


  1. Create and maintain standard and option estimates in WorkSMART.
  2. Accurately perform quantity takeoffs of new plans and enter into plan structure format of the WorkSMART database.
  3. Accurately perform quantity takeoffs for new community setups for all the plans being offered to our customers and enter into plan structure format of the WorkSMART database.
  4. Support superintendents with knowledge of WorkSMART and other construction related areas.
  5. Promote new strategies and specifications for cost savings and quality improvement in estimate, accuracy and efficiency.
  6. Perform variance and cost analysis.
  7. Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  8. Provide support to Estimator Manager on a regular basis. Provide support to VP of Product Development/Estimating on an as needed basis. Modify Purchase Orders when necessary, create variances.
  9. Resolve PCR’s (Plan Change Requests)
  10. Analyze estimate quantities based on historical data.
  11. Review estimate changes in monthly cost books.

 Minimum Job Requirements:

 Education:  Courses or commensurate experience in building construction is helpful.


Licenses, Certifcations, etc:  None required


Experience:  Knowledge of techniques, methods, and terminology of residential construction.

Experience with estimating and quantity takeoff techniques.



Technical/Professional Skills:  Ability to read construction plans, good math skills (geometry, area and volume calculations)


Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel Internet, WorkSMART, Plan Swift
