Raleigh Construction Trainee

Position Summary:

To assist the Construction Manager in the completion of homes to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:  Core duties or tasks fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job. 

  1. Oversee community in Construction Manager’s absence (i.e. weekly meetings, vacation, illness, homeowner orientations, etc.)
  • Meet with County/City Inspectors if builder is unavailable
  • Call in inspections in Construction Manager’s absence
  • Send the request to move schedules to Area Manager
  1. Perform routine production activities
  • Change furnace filters and platforms
  • Repair minor silt fence
  • Repair tub, cabinet and vinyl window as needed
  • Repair minor cracks in drives and walks
  • Install replacements for damaged window sashes and screens
  • Install replacements or repair damaged exterior doors and interior woodwork
  • Install and maintain tub signs
  • Install shut off tags
  1. Meet with and sign off on deliveries of materials when needed
  2. Water lawns (seasonal)
  3. Attend Quality Assurance walk and follow up to ensure Quality Assurance checklist is completed
  4. Assist with Homeowner Orientation Sign off
  5. Keep all drive barricades in place
  6. Unlock and lock homes daily
  7. Police community; review and enforce safety regulations
  8. Install water meter location cards
  9. Oversee building and painting of permit boards
  10. Post building permit cards
  11. Adjust/clean out water meter boxes so municipality will set meters
  12. Aid Builder to ensure job site cleanliness
  13. Attend and perform inspections

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:   High School

Licenses, Certifications, etc:  None required

Experience:.  Residential construction or similar industry is helpful.

Computer Skills:  Microsoft Office, SMART software
