Ongoing Community Involvement: Smith Douglas Homes Proudly Supports HomeAid Atlanta, Commitment to Service
Tuesday March 29, 2016
As the largest privately-owned homebuilder in Atlanta, and the second-largest homebuilder overall in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area, Smith Douglas Homes is honored to share its success on an ongoing basis, and strives to be an active force for good by giving back to the community where the company is based.
“We want to show our ongoing commitment and be a responsible and engaged member of society, focused on the places where we live and work. As a company, we do so in a number of targeted ways,” says Dusty Talbert, Marketing Manager with Smith Douglas Homes.
Two ways the company has selected to give back to the greater Atlanta area are through sponsoring HomeAid Atlanta and their very own Commitment to Service program.
HomeAid Atlanta is the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta HBA. HomeAid builds new lives for families and homeless individuals through housing and community outreach.
HomeAid is a leading national non-profit provider of housing for today’s homeless. The organization builds and renovates multi-unit shelters for America’s homeless families and individuals, more than one million of whom are children, while they rebuild their lives.
Since its founding in 1989, HomeAid has provided housing for more than 200,000 individuals who have been rendered temporarily homeless due to circumstances beyond their control, including:
- Abused children
- Victims of domestic violence
- At-risk teens
- Returning military veterans
- Those who are temporarily out of work
- Victims of natural disasters and other catastrophes
Through the generosity of America’s builders, their trade partners, financial institutions, and the public, HomeAid has built more than 400 project shelters with an additional 50 in development. These shelters provide more than 7,500 beds per night nationwide. Each bed serves an average of three people per year – see www.homeaid.org/about-us.
As a 2015 Diamond Sponsor of HomeAid Atlanta, Smith Douglas Homes provides financial and material support to assist HomeAid Atlanta in building and renovating transitional housing for Atlanta’s temporarily homeless children, women and men. Commitment to Service
Another way of giving back to society is Smith Douglas Homes’ Commitment to Service program, thanking the heroes who have chosen to serve others (military personnel, teachers, police officials, firefighters, medical personnel and EMT’s) by providing $6,000 in special savings to these heroes upon their purchase of a new home. “At Smith Douglas Homes, we believe that those who serve should save, and this program is our way of saying ‘thanks’ to those that serve our country and community,” according to Talbert.
Throughout the year, interested homebuyers are encouraged sign up for Smith Douglas Homes’ Commitment to Service Program. Restrictions apply. Smith Douglas Homes’ Commitment to Service Program is available year-round, subject to terms and conditions.
